Witcher fan film does Gerald justice

It's incredibly rare for a movie based on a video game to be good. Last year's Warcraft was passable, the Lara Croft movies were ok, but with everything from Street Fighter to DOA being absolutely terrible, it's really nice to see a film that's actually pretty faithful to the source material and entertaining in its own, low-budget way.

Of course though, we're not talking about a full-length movie here but a short, five minute fan film. Based on the series of Witcher games, this few minutes of action features Geralt as he rides down one of his many quarries. Accompanied by Triss, who helps him out with a few fireballs, the man playing Geralt of Rivea, Maul Cosplay, does a great job of playing the part.

The way he moves and handles the sword are very much like that of the silver-haired Witcher who has played the part in the game series. There are even a few of his supernatural powers thrown in for good measure.

The woman playing Triss, Erika Rodgers, is actually the producer of the short film too and you can see the experience at work. She's traditionally more of a dancer and rope-suspension artist and you can find more of her work on Youtube.
