This is why Arkham Knight is rated M

Right off the bat, this post contains spoilers, so if you are planning on playing Arkham Knight and don't want to have some of the game's most eye-opening content spoiled for you, stop reading.

Now that that's out of the way, a summary of the upcoming Batman sequel from the ESRB ratings board has explained just why it was recently given an M for Mature rating. In short, it contains some much more graphic violence than previous Batman games.

The longer answer however is much more detailed. Not only do you use Batman's new vehicular capabilities to fire rockets, machine guns and many other types of armaments at enemies, you'll also use one of the car's wheels to torture a man in one scene.

Other details the summary reveals include:

"Cutscenes depict characters getting shot (on and off camera) while restrained or unarmed. Large bloodstains/pools of blood appear in crime scenes and in the aftermath of violent acts; one room depicts a person torturing a character on a bloody operating table. During the course of the game, players can shoot unarmed characters and a hostage. Neon signs in a red-light district read "live nude girls" and "XXX." The words "b*tch," "gobsh*te," and "a*s" appear in the dialogue."

Well we can't have players hearing gobshite can we? Or seeing a sign for a strip club.

That'd be terrible.

Thanks EG.
