What if GTA V had been made for the N64?

GTA V is a beautiful looking game, with an expansive open world to explore, detailed texturing, models, animation and more that makes the world feel alive. We used to get that feeling from less though, with older games that were much less pretty giving us that same feeling of immersion back when times were simpler and graphics weren't as impressive.

However what if someone had the ability to create a world like Los Santos back in the '90s? Say when the N64 was out? That's what a glitch a certain glitch makes the game look like and it's an interesting insight into how far we've come in the short near-two decades since that classic Nintendo console was released.

The glitch that caused this texturing issue showed up in CaseyLikesGames' play time for GTA V online, and gave them full draw distance, but with ridiculously low poly models and almost non existent texturing. They're so low resolution, it's difficult to make out anything in the smudgy mess.

Presumably these are extreme distance textures that aren't being replaced when the player approaches and it's an interesting look at how optimisations can be used to improve game performance - even if here they're somewhat out of place.
