Most of those who have played and loved the Warcraft games have been waiting for quite some time now for the third installment. The retail version of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, is going to take a while longer but for those who can wait no longer Blizzard has provided.
Approximately 5,000 beta testers will be chosen randomly from the pool of qualified applicants. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian residents and must be 13 years of age or older. Testers that are chosen to participate in the beta test will be notified by e-mail.
In the event that you are selected to beta test Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (the "Product"), your use of the Product will be subject to a Beta Test License Agreement that will be contained in the Product.
Blizzard is not taking applications on a "first-come, first-serve basis." You have the same chance of getting into the beta regardless of when you decide to sign up during the one (1) week application period.

Requirements
The Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos beta test has the following requirements:
NOTE: Warcraft III has NOT yet been optimized for many hardware configurations. The system requirements are expected to be lower for the final shipping version of the game, specifically in regards to processor speed and video card memory requirements. The system specifications listed below are for the Warcraft III beta only.
Your computer must be at least a Pentium III 600 (or equivalent), with 128 MB RAM or more.
Your computer must have a mouse, 400 MB of available hard drive space, a 4X CD-ROM or faster, a 32 MB 3D accelerator card with Direct3D support, a DirectX compatible 16 bit sound card, a 28.8 modem (or better) with Internet connectivity, and DirectX 8.1.
You must be running Windows 98, 98SE, 2000 (running with local Administrator privileges), ME, or XP to play the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos beta on your system.
Your Internet connection must be capable of running 32-bit Windows socket applications (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer).
You must have a valid e-mail address.
In addition, please note that you will be prompted to download an ActiveX file during the registration process that will provide Blizzard with the system configuration of the computer from which you apply and intend to play the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos beta. Specifically, Blizzard will only be recording CPU, RAM, operating system, video card, and sound card information from your computer. Your system configuration data will be linked with your personal registration data. The reason we are collecting this information is to make sure that we select users with a wide variety of hardware configurations that meet the minimum requirements to participate in the Beta test. By submitting your application, you hereby acknowledge that the aforementioned data will be collected and grant Blizzard permission to collect such data.
