Ubisoft has expressed its love for the Wii by announcing a total of eight titles for Nintendo's new console, 7 of which will be released on or around the Wii's launch.

For many of us Ubisoft's Red Steel title was the first glimpse of the Wii in action and a sign that Ubisoft was behind the little console that could, from day one. Not long later we also found out that Rayman would appear on the Wii and now the French company has announced an additional five titles are to be released for Nintendo's console during the holiday 2006 season. These are: Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Far Cry, GT Pro Series, Monster 4×4 World Circuit and Open Season. Additionally, Ubisoft has confirmed that a Prince of Persia title is also under development for the Wii and will be released in March 2007.

It is not clear if the Far Cry title for the Wii will be a new game or a ported version but Ubisoft has made it clear that it will fully utilize the Wiimote and will feature brand new content. The Blazing Angels title will also utilize the unique controller as will the GT Pro title. It seems that Ubisoft has been getting to grips with the Wiimote and plans to milk it for all that it's worth.

It is also not clear if the PoP game will be a brand new version or the Wii incarnation of a previous game but whatever the case you can rest assured that it will use the controller in some new and wonderful way.

For Nintendo the presence of 7 strong titles from a major publisher, on the launch of its console is a very positive message and a sales boost, even if one of those titles (Open Season) is a Sony property.
