Total War - Next Stop Rome

The creators of the Total War series of games have announced that the next installment will be set during the times of the Roman Empire.
The game, titled "Rome - Total War," will feature a completely new engine which will use innovative technology and groundbreaking design to bring the world of ancient Rome to life and deliver the biggest and most cinematic battles ever seen in a videogame.
With this move Creative Assembly, the games' developers, are hoping to create a more immersive 3D experience, moving away from the board-game feel of its predecessors.

Rome - Total War will allow players to control Roman legions, Greek phalanxes, barbarian hordes or the Carthaginians complete with war elephants. The game is due for release in November 2003.

The news comes as the Medieval - Total War title was announced to have displaced Half-Life from the top of PC Gamer's top 100 PC games of all time. Half-Life which had been at the top for several years, moved to number 3 while the number 2 spot was taken by Deus-Ex.
