Tetris Heads To The Cinema With A Movie Trilogy

Tetris is definitely one of the oldest and most venerable gaming franchises. The 32 years old addictive game is still selling strong on modern platforms, it is actually the best-selling paid digital download game of all time. The game has found its way to all gaming platforms but it never made it to the silver screen, and for good reason – the game's simplistic gameplay doesn't offer enough substance to build a 90 minutes story.

Well, at least one studio believes that Tetris can be enjoyed as a trilogy of 3 feature films.

Threshold Entertainment Group CEO Larry Kasanoff has cut a deal with Chinese firm Seven Star Works to form Threshold Global Studios and co-produce an $80 million Tetris film.

"Just like playing the game, all the pieces are falling into place with bringing an epic, sci-fi thriller based on Tetris to the big screen," said Maya Rogers, CEO of Tetris brand agent Blue Planet Software. "We’re very excited to bring Tetris fans worldwide this epic tale in the form of a major motion picture."

We can't help but think about last year's Adam Sandler's movie Pixels which flopped so bad, critics called it an insult to Pac-Man.
