Subnautica Silent Running update helps keep your Cyclops safe

Subnautica is an Early Access, underwater (mostly) survival game set on an alien world and the developers have continued to update it on a regular basis over the past few years. That continued this weekend with the release of the Silent Running update, which adds a number of new features, but most notably the ability to power down much of your Cyclops' noise making features.

Why would you need to do that? Because there are now creatures that want to destroy it of course.

Along with the ability to go quiet, the Cyclops now has some other impressive upgrades. You can scan nearby terrain for a 360-degree view of where you are, a threat indicator will let you know where dangers are, manual shields can now give you added protection from those same threats and a damage display will let you know how you're getting on.

Because the Cyclops can now be damaged though, you will need to get out there and repair it on occasion. That'll mean putting out fires, using the welding tool to fix up holes in the hull and more. If you don't, you risk your Cyclops being destroyed for good. While that would be terrible, you can at least salvage parts from it to make building a new one a little easier.

The update also refines the UI with nicer indicators for health, food and o2, as well as adding new secrets to the world. This is a big update.
