Star Fox Zero not coming in 2015

Nintendo hasn't had the greatest of times with its Wii U, which makes any big delays or problems with its software line up more of a problem than it would be for Microsoft or Sony. Unfortunately that's exactly what's happened with one of its biggest intended releases of the year: Star Fox Zero. It's now been announced that it won't hit the shelves until some time in 2016, missing the 2015 holiday season.

This is surprising to many, since Star Fox Zero has been shown off at a number of different trade shows and gaming events around the world, prompting many to assume that it's about done. However Platinum Games clearly has more to do as it's pushed its release back by several months.

"Although we felt that the development had been progressing well, we now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes," said designer, Shigeru Miyamoto.

"While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing."

You have to respect that. As much as it might be annoying for a game to release late, it's better for it to release late and yet play well. Too many games have released early, only to be poorly reviewed and barely work, seeming like a cash grab more than a fun game.
