Star Citizen breaks $63 million, shows no sign of stopping

Every few million dollars it feels like we need to take another look at Crowd Funding's biggest success story: Star Citizen. With a pool of money so large, it could swallow up almost every other Kickstarted project ever, Star Citizen shows no signs of stopping.

Its latest financial achievement has been breaking through the $63 million barrier, unlocking a new ship for players to fly around the arena mode in.

It's called the MISC Reliant and its a duel seat starter ship, which should be a nice addition for those wanting to coop about in game right from the get go.

Described as "MISC’s most Xi’An tech-heavy ship to date," the ship comes with twin crew seats, a vertical fuselage design and glowing cockpits, because it's important to look good when you're zooming around the galaxy.

Of course this is just another stepping stone on the road to the finished game though, which is why there's another stretch goal already tempting backers to drop even more money on this still far-off project.

The next goal will see pets added to the game. Your ship might already have a repair bot and fish, but with the next strech goal we'll see cats, dogs and perhaps some slightly stranger space creatures when the game launches. It's an update that's dedicated to Paddington, a dog that was used in an early Star Citizen video and helped the campaign breach $4 million, a big milestone at the time.
