Square Enix goes all in with Final Fantasy XV

If there was any indication that Square Enix wasn't putting as many eggs in the already overloaded Final Fantasy XV basket as it could, it's now long gone, as the full announcement of what companion media Square is releasing with the upcoming RPG, is quite staggering.

On top of the game itself, there's an upcoming five part anime series in the works, detailing the origins stories of the four main characters in the game. It will be made available for free a little later this year and should offer expanded story for the game's setting.

There's also an animated film in the works, which will be feature length and will star some well known faces too. The actress who plays Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones (Lena Headey) will feature, alongside Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame. There's even Sean Bean too, though we would all expect him to be killed somehow within the first half.

We're not even close to done though.

The theme tune for the Final Fantasy game and accompanying media is being recorded by Florence an the Machine, there will also be a number of tie in mobile games and a free demo, which is somewhat of a rarity in today's gaming landscape.

There's going to be special editions of the game too, and for those that really want to splash out, a custom Final Fantasy XV Audi R8, because, why not?

Does all of this go far enough to excite you about the game? It's been a long time since Final Fantasy really impressed as a series, can 15 make that comeback?
