Look out for Google Yeti. Not because it's going to stumble out of the woods and maul you, but because it's going to make game streaming even easier -- as if it wasn't already a walk in the park. Google's Yeti platform, now officially called, Project Stream, will go live for the first time on October 5 and will mean it's possible to play AAA games right within the Chrome web browser. But it will require official game support to work correctly. The first game to debut the new feature: Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
"We’ve been working on Project Stream, a technical test to solve some of the biggest challenges of streaming," Google said in a blog post. "For this test, we’re going to push the limits with one of the most demanding applications for streaming – a blockbuster video game."
Technically Project Stream is still in the testing phase, but its development is progressing and the partnership with Ubisoft is a major leap in its ongoing advancement. To see how well it performs on a variety of software and hardware platforms, Google is looking to recruit testers and you could be one of them. There are only a few places, but if you'd like to take part, you can apply here.
Participants must be residents of the United States and be at least 17 years old, with a 25Mbit or better internet connection.
