Sony Porting Move To PC

Sony Porting Move To PC

The synopsis of a GDC panel scheduled for next month has revealed that Sony is working on a "Move Server" which would allow PC owners to use PlayStation 3's Move controller.

Titled "Update on PlayStation Move development", the panel's synopsis contains the following phrase: "We will discuss the new Move Server project that will make it possible for academics and hobbyists to develop software using the PlayStation Move controller on their own PCs."

The panel will be presented by John McCutchan, SCEA's lead of the Game Systems team in Developer Support.

It is worth noting that hackers have already created PC drivers for Nintendo's WiiMote and Microsoft's Kinect, but they seem to have ignored Sony's Move - most probably because it delivered nothing new. Microsoft has confirmed that it will release an official Kinect PC driver "when the time is right."
