Sony: PlayStation 4 Is Doing Okay In Japan

PlayStation 4 has been exceptionally successful worldwide and in USA, nonetheless it hasn't been as successful in its own hometown, Japan.

In fact, PlayStation 4 has consistently fallen behind Wii U in Japanese weekly sales charts and it sold just 620,000 units in its four months of availability in that market. For comparison, one million PS4 units were sold on its North American launch day,

Sony Computer Entertainment president and group CEO Andrew House acknowledged the situation but insisted that "It's doing okay."

House believes that the lack of native content is one of the main reasons behind PS4's poor market performance in Japan. According to him, Japanese developers refused to support PlayStation 4 before launch as they were content with PS3 performance and believed that Japanese gamers weren't interested in a new consoles generation. Sony hopes that this will change eventually.
