Sekiro Manga will explore world, side-characters

If you've enjoyed the brutal, mastery of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, or even if you just like your comics bloody and colorful, you may be excited to learn that Sekiro is getting a Manga spin off. It will go on sale towards the end of May in Japanese. An English version will be coming later. Both will focus on the exploits of side character Hanbei the Undying — a character that you may have spotted near the Dilapidated Temple statue near the start of the game.

The plot synopsis from Yen Press is rather vague, but gives a basic outline of what we can expect from the manga's story:

"The Sengoku Era… A time when losing a battle meant losing it all. The Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina, aims for world domination… That is, until he encounters a certain Samurai…"

The official name for the manga is Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei and it's drawn by Shin Yamamoto, who you may know from his Monster Hunter: Flash Hunter manga. FromSoftware was also an acting supervisor on the development of the manga, so we would expect it to be faithful to the design and feel of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. We can certainly see from an early release panel selection that it will be as bloody and brutal as the game.

The plot hasn't been revealed in any great detail, but Hanbei the Undying, by his very nature, can't die, so he and his adventures in exploring that mysterious power will be at the heart of it.

Expect the English version of the manga to debut sometime in the next few months.
