Sega Is Culling Its Mobile Games Catalog

Sega announced today that it remove some of its mobile titles from Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App Store over the coming weeks.

The publisher intends to polish its mobile brand by culling out low quality games and keeping the best games only.

"At Sega we are committed to making fun, high-quality mobile games and it is with our fans' best playing experience in mind that we announce the removal of a number of games from our back catalogue," said the company. "It is important for us to ensure that all of our fans, regardless of platform or operating system, have a great playing experience and after evaluating our complete list of titles, we have determined that a number of them no longer meet our standards."

Sega currently has more than 40 mobile games listed on different app stores. The company didn't indicate how many games will be removed, but it assured that they will remain playable for people who have them installed. It also indicated that updated versions of culled games may return to the store, "given the right situation."
