Rocket League developer, Psyonix, teases new basketball mode

If you aren't good at aerials in Rocket League yet, it's probably time to get some practice in, as Psyonix, the developer, has teased a new, upcoming game mode that will make being good at them extra important.

"March Madness is just around the corner. Great time to tease the mod we're working on next #RocketLeagueHoops," was the tweet that went out with the gallery image, showing a rocket car flying through the air and hitting not a football, but a basketball towards a distinct hoop-like shape for a goal.

It looks like players will need to knock the ball down into the goal to be in with a chance of scoring, which is where being able to aerial at a high level will come in handy. To counter those attacks though, opposing players will be able to drop into the goal itself, jumping up to block the shot from within the "net," offering up entirely new tactics for anyone on the defensive as well.

This isn't the first time Psyonix has taken inspiration from other sports, as over the Winter period it offered a ice hockey like experience with a puck, rather than a ball, which led many to grow their ability to wall ride - this mode though, looks like it will all be about flying.
