Razer isn't just making gaming mice and laptops any more, it's also making routers. The new Sila model comes with a claimed support of AC3000 speeds over 802.11ac/n in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz-1, and 5GHz-2 spectrums. It should be fast and since Razer has something to do with it, it looks good too.
Technically, this router won't let you transmit at 3Gbit per second, but it can support a total bandwidth at that level across each of its bands. The 2.4Ghz spectrum runs at 802.11n speeds, offering up to 400Mbps, while the 5GHz frequencies offer 1,733Mbit and 866Mbit respectively. If you want to hit speeds in excess of that, you can take advantage of the router's full support for Mesh networking, which means that if you want to buy two, or even three of these routers, you can combine them in single or multi-story dwellings to create a super-fast network that shares the load among the different hardware.
The Sila router also comes with an intriguing feature known as FastTrack, which Razer explains as follows (via PCGamer):
"By using deep packet inspection and adaptive learning technology, Razer FasTrack allows users to prioritize traffic based on application and device types, from mobile phones and smart TVs through to laptops, PCs or consoles. With built-in detection for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch consoles, users can easily fine tune their networks for the smoothest gaming or streaming experiences. Razer FasTrack also features a one-touch gaming mode, to automatically reserve bandwidth for online gaming."
The Sila comes with three Gigabit Ethernet ports and a WAN port, a pair of USB ports -- one 3.0, one 2.0 -- for connecting external devices.
Sila begins shipping out on October 3 and will retain for $250.
