Pokémon Go is getting Sun and Moon Alolan Pokemon soon

Even if the game has fallen far from its peak soon after launch a couple of years ago, Pokémon Go is still going strong and receiving regular updates. Alongside a whole host of summer events Niantic is hosting, the developer is planning another big addition to the game in the form of Pokémon Sun and Moon's Alolan forms of various Pokémon, expanding the roster of available pocket monsters once again.

Pokémon Go is a very different game from the rest of the main Pokémon series. Although it today features many of the same facets -- following years of development adding additional features beyond the basics -- it still retains a unique gameplay experience in the form of capturing, training and evolving Pokémon. No doubt the Sun and Moon-style Alolan forms will be much the same. While they will likely be catchable in certain settings, the way players turn their existing Pokémon into their more intriguing Alolan forms could be interested in and of itself.

"Sunny days are ahead! Whether your forecast calls for rain or shine, we’re celebrating all around the world by introducing some special Pokémon from the tropical Alola region to Pokémon GO," Niantic said in a statement. "Get ready for some of the Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region to appear in their Alolan forms!"

Niantic didn't give us a hard date for when these Pokémon would arrive, but suggested that they would be rolled out over the next few weeks.

Which forms are you guys most excited to see in the game?
