Nvidia partner registers GTX 2070 and 2080 names

Throwing more fuel on the raging rumor fire that is the next-generation of Nvidia graphics cards, Nvidia partner, Manli Technologies has registered two new graphics card names: GTX 2070 and GTX 2080. Both cards are said to use "Ampere" cores, which are thought to be more mid-range offerings in Nvidia's Volta range. That could mean that Volta will be reserved for prosumer and enterprise cards like the Titan V.

Spotted by WCCFTech (via Komachi), the ECC listing goes through all of the names of Nvidia graphics cards from the current generation, but nestled between the GTX 1060 and GTX 260, are 2070 and 2080 cards.

It could be that that's a typo or some sort of mixup between the 10-series and very old 200 series cards, because there are no listings in there for the GTX 1080 or 1070 cards. However, the suggestion that they're part of the Ampere generation of GPUs debunks that.

Still, it continues to excite rumors of a new-generation card reveal coming in the next few weeks. Existing rumors point to three cards debuting before the end of August, going on sale before the end of September. We expect to see three cards at 120w, 150w, and 180w power draws respectively. Their pricing is said to be $500, $600, and $750, with price cuts of $50 and $100 for the GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti.
