Notch buys LA mansion

If anyone ever tells you that playing games will lead you nowhere, all you need do is point to Notch, the creator of Minecraft and founder of Mojang, who after selling out to Microsoft earlier this year for $2.5 billion, has purchased a new pad over in Beverly Hills, which he just bought for a cool $70 million, outbidding rapper Jay-Z in the process.

It comes with its own infinity pool and 50 foot, automated sliding glass door, its own big wall of candy dispensers, 15 bathrooms, eight bedrooms and a total of 23,000 square feet of floor space. It's a real nerd mansion, or at least he will be once Notch adds all the figurines and posters of comic book characters that you know are incoming.

To prove that he really had signed the deed to the property, Notch posted a picture of himself lounging around in his new multi-million dollar abode. He later answered questions on Twitter, explaining that the cars didn't come with the property, and that as much as the wall of candy was a nice touch, he doesn't really like any of it.

Notch famously criticised Palmer Luckey earlier this year when he sold Oculus VR to Facebook for $2 billion, suggesting that he didn't like the idea of selling to a large corporation. However just a couple of months later, he announced that he would be selling Minecraft and Mojang Studios to Microsoft.
