Nintendo has finally revealed detailed info about its upcoming console-handheld hybrid, the Nintendo Switch.

The Switch will be released worldwide on March 3rd, 2017 for $299.99 in North America. Nintendo will also launch a paid online service to compliment The Switch. Nintendo did not reveal the subscription cost for the new online service, but they promised that it will be free through fall 2017.

The Switch supports 3 play modes: TV mode, Handheld mode and Tabletop mode. The TV mode is your standard console experience where the console resides in its docking station and connects to a TV, allowing gamers to play using the Joy-Con controllers or Pro Controllers. The handheld mode allows you to take the console off its dock and attach the Joy-Con controllers to its sides in order to play on the move. Finally, the tabletop mode utilizes the console's built-in kickstand to allow 1 or 2 players to utilize the Switch as a standalone screen and play together using detached Joy-Con controllers.

While playing in handheld or tabletop mode, The Switch has a battery life of 2.5 to 6.5 hours, depending on the game being played.

The console will be available in 2 SKUs that differ only in color of the included Joy-Cons. One SKU comes with grey Joy-Cons while the other comes with red and blue Joy-Cons. Extra pairs of Joy-Cons can be bought for $79.99 and Pro Controllers will be sold for $70 apiece. More interestingly though, you will be able to buy additional Switch docks so that you'd be able to game on your living room and bedroom TVs without having to fumble with the cable connections.

The switch come with a humble 32GB of internal memory that can be extended using game cards. The console sports a 6.2" multi-touch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720.
