Nintendo Switch to have New York hands-on in January

Nintendo's Switch console is only a few months away from release now, but we still don't know much about it. Sure we saw the reveal trailer where Nintendo showcased how it can break down the new console into a portable version, with detachable controller halves, a built in screen... but that's about it. We saw a number of somewhat not-Nintendo games at the debut of the console, but those many not even end up on the system. So what can we expect?

That's the question Nintendo plans to answer in January, when after showcasing the new system in Japan during a Tokyo livestream on January 12, it will make an appearance in New York for five hours of free-play on the 13th. It's not known just yet whether the public will be allowed to attend, but it's quite possible that it will be by invite only, with members of the press given special consideration.

Indeed the Japanese event will only be for investors and media, so it could be that that sort of showing is replicated in the U.S..

Nintendo hasn't announced where the event will take place or at what time just yet, but it promises to do so over the next few weeks (as per Polygon).

What sort of games do you think Nintendo will show off at the respective first hands-on with the console?
