That Nintendo Switch Early Reveal Was From A Stolen Console

A few days ago, the world got an early look at Nintendo's upcoming console-handheld hybrid, the Nintendo Switch, when one lucky user was able to buy it from an unsuspecting retailer. Guess what? Turns out the console was actually stolen.

Nintendo released an official statement regarding the matter, explaining that the console was one of a small group of consoles stolen by an employee at a U.S. distributor. All the consoles have been retrieved and all individuals involved have been identified, terminated and are currently under legal investigation.

"Earlier this week, individuals claimed to prematurely purchase a small number of Nintendo Switch systems from an unspecified retailer. Nintendo has determined these units were stolen in an isolated incident by employees of a U.S. distributor, with one system being illegally resold. The individuals involved have been identified, terminated from their place of employment and are under investigation by local law enforcement authorities on criminal charges.

Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017, and we look forward to everyone being able to discover the wonders of the new system for themselves at that time."

You'd think a person who steals one of the most anticipated gadgets of the year wouldn't boast his spoils for millions to see on YouTube.
