The next God of War has a baby sitting button

Sony's next entry in the God of War series sees deity-slayer Kratos taking on some of Norse mythology's greatest religious symbols, but he won't be doing it alone. Yes he'll have a beard, but he also has a son. That child will be with him every step of the way and we're told he offers a new path for Kratos. Can the slayer of so many redeem himself into something other than just a murderous entity?

The child will play a major role in the story, as well as the gameplay itself. Acting in a similar fashion to Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite, whereby he will help you during combat and puzzle solving segments. Players will be able to call on his help whenever they fancy too, as there's a dedicated button for the child.

It will be contextual, offering players a different way to interact with the kid depending on where they are at the time and at what point in the game they are, though the full list of ways that can work out hasn't been revealed.

If nothing else though, he'll be handy during a fight. In one demonstration we saw him called in to fire stunning arrows at a monstrous troll that Kratos was having a a tough time with.

What do you think of the addition of the kid? Do you think it will take God of War away from its roots?
