Monster Hunter: World's Iceborne expansion hits PCs in January 2020

If you were hotly excited about Monster Hunter: World's big expansion, Iceborne, then you were no doubt disappointed to learn that the PC version will, like the original game, launch several months after the console version. But we don't have 10 months to wait like we did with the base game. Iceborne may launch on consoles in September, but it will make its way to PCs all over the world in January 2020, four months later.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne is the first major expansion for MHW and will be its only one, even though there will be additional free DLC released afterwards. It's set to increase the size of the base game's content by at least 50 percent, with more monsters, more quests, multiple new maps to explore, new equipment, weapons, and gameplay mechanics.

Arguably the most exciting thing about the new expansion is the way it will play. All players will unlock a new gadget called the Clutch Claw which lets you grapple a monster from a distance, grabbing on to them and performing special attack moves. If you time it right and know what you're doing, you can even make a monster flinch, or control its movement with a well timed manoeuvre.

Monster Hunter: World's Iceborne expansion launches on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6 and now PC, in January.
