Microsoft Reinstates Xbox One $50 Price Cut

Microsoft has reinstated the $50 Xbox One price cut that was offered during the holiday, less than two weeks after the promotion ended.

"Building off a record-setting holiday, we are excited to announce a new promotion in which fans in the U.S. can buy an Xbox One at a special price of $349, starting January 16, from their preferred retailer," said Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox. "We are thankful for all the excitement for Xbox One this holiday and proud to offer more fans the amazing games lineup, Xbox Live gaming community, and continual innovation that Xbox One fans have come to enjoy."

This is a bittersweet deal as it means that gamers who purchased Xbox One consoles between January 3rd and yesterday paid an extra $50 for no good reason. On the other hand, permanent price cuts are always welcome

Microsoft didn't discuss possible compensation for fans who bought Xbox One during the last couple of weeks, but we won't be surprised to see them compensated with Xbox Live credit. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear back from Microsoft.
