Microsoft claims Scorpio will be more powerful than PS4 Pro

When the current generation of consoles was first released, it became immediately apparent that while internal hardware between the PS4 and Xbox One was quite comparable, the PS4 has a significant performance advantage, making it possible for it to deliver 1080P resolutions at much more favourable frame rates than Microsoft's console.

With the sort of .5 generation release of the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio though, Microsoft seems quite convinced that it will be the other way around. Although the PS4 Pro has the ability to play 4K content, it doesn't support 4K blu-rays, something that the Xbox One Scorpio can do quite handily.

While it's not clear at this time if the One S will support the HDR feature appearing on a number of high-end televisions, but Microsoft's senior director of product management, Albert Penello, claimed to be confident that the Scorpio Xbox would come in as the more powerful of the two systems.

"The performance delta will be obvious," he said in a chat with Polygon.

One advantage the PS4 Pro will have though is an earlier release date. It's set to go on sale in November, while the Xbox One Scorpio isn't slated for release until sometime in 2017.

Will you wait for the added (claimed) performance?
