Legend of Bum-Bo, the Binding of Isaac match-3 game lands next week

Edward McMillen is known for creating games with an iconic art style, randomized elements, and poopy themes. That's no different with the Legend of Bum-Bo, but the game is quite different. It's based in the world of Binding of Isaac, but it brings together RPG and match-three elements to create a unique gaming experience. And it launches in the next few days.

In Legend of Bum-Bo you'll pick a hero, match various icons together in a moving grid, generating mana, abilities, buildings, attacks, and more, all of which is partly randomized and fully customizable. Watch the video above if you want a greater idea of what you'll actually do in game.

It's got a paper-craft art style while still hearkening back to Binding of Isaac, so there's lots of familiar elements in the game, but it's still different enough to stand out. The perspective and pace of play (this is a turn based game afterall) are very different from anything that McMillen has made before.

There are dungeon rooms to discover, bosses to fight, enemies to conquer, and loot to collect, giving you new unique characters to play as, new items to pick from, new abilities to use, and more.

Legend of Bum-Bo launches on Steam on November 12.
