League of Legends chat banned players now blocked from Ranked games

Players that repeatedly cause issues for their team in League of Legends through smack talking, negative attitudes and insults, have previously gotten away with a simple chat ban, which meant they could play anywhere they wanted as usual, they just couldn't talk while they did it. Now though, Riot Games has introduced a new measure that will see all those hit with chat bans also banned from ranked games altogether, for the duration of the punishment.

Both measures are temporary, but Riot is now incorporating an evaluation into each banned player's redemption. When their time is up and they're set to be reinstated to the community at large, Riot is going to look at their past few games to make sure that they haven't trolled other gamers in other ways, like spamming pings, intentionally feeding, or performing any number of other "toxic" actions.

If not, then ranked play and chat privileges will be reinstated, if not, the ban could be made a permanent one.

What will definitely be permanent however, is that if you receive a ranked ban, you won't be able to earn any ranked rewards this season.

"Related to Ranked Restrictions, we've determined that Ranked Rewards should reward positive sportsmanship just as much as they reward great play, so the most negative players who are Ranked Restricted at the end of the season will be ineligible to earn ranked end of season rewards such as the loading screen borders or Victorious Morgana champion skin," said Riot in a forum post on the matter.
