Japanese Publications Explain Nintendo 3DS Screen Technology

Following the announcement of Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo 3DS system, Japanese business publication Nikkei and Asahi shined some light on the technology behind the device's true 3D capability.

According to the two publications, Nintendo 3DS will achieve naked eye 3D by utilizing a parallax barrier technique created by electronics manufacturer Sharp. The publications noted that some mobile phones in Japan already use this technology.

Nintendo 3DS screen will be 4 inches diagonally, which puts it halfway between the original Nintendo DS's 3.3 inches screen and the Nintendo DS XL's 4.2 inches screen.
