Here's what GTA V looks like on an Omni-treadmill VR set up

Setting up a non-VR built game with the Oculus Rift headset isn't the easiest of tasks, as it requires tweaking third party drivers that inject the 3D into the game world and even then it never looks quite right. That said, the guys at Virtuix have managed it and they took it a few steps further too, adding Omni-treadmill support and motion tracking, so he was able to walk around inside the world of GTA, pull out his virtual gun and see it all in gloriously immersive 3D.

Surprisingly for a game that many people love so much, the experience looks a little stressful. Crossing the street becomes a real game of cat and mouse in VR, as our player awkwardly shuffles across streets, but it all looks that bit more psychopathic when he calmly - and with dead VR eyes - guns down pedestrians and a store owner.

Of course this is a game and nobody is suggesting it could relate to real world violence, but as we move steadily closer to reality, it gets that little bit more questionable.

I'd still love to have a go though. What about the rest of you? It'll be doable soon, you'll just need to be willing to shell out at least $1,100 on all the gear and spend a few hours setting it up.
