Here's how Kingdom Come Deliverance is progressing

One of the best aspects of Game of Thrones early on, was that it was a gritty, fantasy world without magic, without prophecies and supernatural gods and demons. While that may no longer be the case - or ever was in the reality of the universe - Kingdom Come Deliverance may be able to pick up that ball and run with it, as it's promising a medieval, first person RPG that does provide a take on the gritty realities of living without many of today's modern comforts.

And melee combat with 4ft pieces of sharpened steel too.

To give us an idea of how it's progressing, Kotaku has had a play with an alpha client that has been distributed to Kickstarter backers and it still looks as pretty as when it was first unveiled last year.

There's not a lot that can be done in the game at the moment, beyond chatting to a few NPCs, who's mouths don't move and don't have voices, but the player character does have a full body, hands, feet and a 1:1 mapped shadow. One of the more impressive features however is the inventory, which is detailed, well laid out and just as pretty as the rest of the game.

My favourite part of the whole thing though is the draw distance and how it doesn't seem to have a single bit of blue fog to distort your view. If the developers can keep the game at this level of fidelity without resorting to that, I will be a very happy man.
