Here's the coolers that work with AMD Threadripper CPUs

Planning on picking up a brand new AMD Threadripper CPU? They're not cheap, even if they are powerful and you'll want a decent cooling solution for them too. One problem there though, is that the sheer size of AMD's new Ryzen hardware makes it hard to find a cooler that could actually fit the high-powered chips. Fortunately, that's not to say that all coolers are incompatible. In-fact, there's a decent selection from a few organizations. Here's a list of your best cooler options.

  • Arctic Freezer 33v
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 240
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 360
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 TR Edition
  • Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240
  • Corsair Hydro Series H80i v2
  • Corsair Hydro Series H105
  • Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2
  • Corsair Hydro Series H115i
  • Cryorig A40
  • Cryorig A40 Ultimate
  • Cryorig A80
  • EVGA CLC 280
  • NZXT Kraken X52
  • NZXT Kraken X61
  • NZXT Kraken X62
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing RGB 360
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing RGB 280
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing RGB 240
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate
  • Thermaletakes Water 3.0 Extreme

Some of these are natively able to mount on a Threadripper chip, whilst others will require the use of the specially designed Threadripper mounting bracket, which AMD is giving away free with each CPU it sells from the new range.

While the above list is long, it's not exhaustive. As Hexus points out, Noctua has also released a trio of coolers which should work just fine with AMD's new high-end CPUs.
