The heyday of music games has passed a few years ago, but that didn't stop Harmonix from trying to find that sweet spot again. In addition to obvious move to virtual reality, Harmonix has partnered with Hasbro to create an electronic tabletop music mixing card game.

DropMix is a fast-paced music mixing game where players create one of a kind mixes by playing cards featuring hit songs. Each card in DropMix represents a different part of a song – like vocals, bass, drums, etc. As you place cards on the electronic DropMix board, which connects to a free app on your iOS or Android device, you and your friends will hear a custom mix start to take shape in real-time.

Harmonix is starting off by introducing Clash Mode, where you can either face off against one friend to play 1v1, or team up to take down two buddies 2v2. You earn points by playing cards and it’s a race to 21. There’s also an option to save your mix to your device, so when you’re playing and you’ve got those cards sounding just right, you can save it for you and your friends to enjoy.

DropMix features hit songs from globally renowned artists and award-winning producers including, "Take Over Control" by Afrojack (ft. Eva Simons), "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars, "Closer" by The Chainsmokers (ft. Halsey), "Sing" by Ed Sheeran, "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy, "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5, "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor, "House Party" by Sam Hunt and many more.

The DropMix Music Gaming System, which includes an electronic DropMix Board and 60 DROPMIX Cards across multiple music genres, will be available at major retailers and online in September 2017 for $99.99. Hasbro will also release Playlist Packs with 16 DropMix Cards for $14.99 and Discover Packs with five DropMix Cards for $4.99. The additional cards will be released on an ongoing basis throughout 2017 so that 300 cards will available in total by the year's end.
