G.Skill now has the world's fastest 64GB SO-DIMM kit too

Just days after it introduced the world to a brand new 32GB DDR4 kit which came with massive bandwidth and impressive timings, G.Skill has now upped the ante by offering much the same to those who require a monstrous 64GB of memory. The new Ripjaws kit comes in four 16GB modules and though likely to be expensive, has even tighter timings than its 32GB cousin.

Last week G.Skill debuted its 32GB SO-DIMM kit, made up of four eight gigabyte modules, running at 4,000MHz with timings as tight as CL 18-18-18-38. It's now gone beyond that with its 64GB kit, which has timings of just CL 17-17-17-37. That reduction in latency does come with a trade-off though, as these modules come at a default speed of 3,466MHz.

To make this possible, G.Skill conducts aggressive binning of the Samsung memory chips it uses in the modules, only selecting the best for its kits and pushing the weaker ones down to its lower-end kits. It then hits them with some heavy overclocking to get them where it wants them to be. That may mean that there isn't much more headroom to be found on these kits, but we're sure that a few of you out there have the patience and know-how to find a few extra megahertz or tighten up those timings as you need.

No pricing has yet been released for this kit, as with the 32GB version, but Hexus expects them to be released in the first quarter of the new year. It seems likely that they'll make an appearance at CES in January too, as where better to show them off?
