Gone Home is coming to Xbox One and PS4 in January

Gone Home, much like Dear Esther, isn't a 'game' in the traditional sense. It has some hinted at horror elements that never really materialise and involves more walking and listening than anything else. But still, it's an experience that touched a lot of people and experiments with new kinds of storytelling, which is all we're really doing with games anyway, telling different kinds of stories.

So it's great to hear that Gone Home will be making the transition to the current-generation of consoles, the Xbox One and PS4.

"Ever since Gone Home came out we've wanted to be able to bring it to people who maybe aren't PC gamers, or don't have a good enough computer, or who just want to play in their living room, maybe to share the experience with a friend or loved one from the comfort of their couch," said Fullbright founder Steve Gaynor in an official post. "Our goal wasn't to add or change things, but just to bring the game that players know and love onto consoles in the best possible form we could."

Along with all of the original game's assets - primped and preened to the Unity 5 standard - will be an additional 90 minutes of developer commentary for those that want to dive behind the story and find out some of the reasoning behind different parts of the game.

Gone Home will be available on consoles in January 2016.
