Genesis classics are coming back... as TV shows

If you spent much of the '90s scrolling sideways, punching bad guys and looting chickens from phone booths like me, then any Streets of Rage news is something to get excited about. However when it's not a video game and more like a TV show, some scepticism is to be expected.

That's exactly what's happening though. Streets of Rage and Altered Beast (Po-were-Up!) are both going to be turned into TV shows through a partnership between Sega and Hakuhodo DY Holdings - through their joint company, Stories International. It's also teamed up with Circle of Confusion to help produce. That's the company behind shows like Fear the Walking Dead and movies like Straight out of Compton and Doctor Strange.

There's even talk of other projects being in the works, according to Variety. The producer of Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Girl on the Train is said to be working on bringing Shinobi to the silver screen. There's even mentions of Virtua Fighter, Golden Axe, House of the Dead and Crazy Taxi potentially making their way to your living room box.

It's not clear in what guise any of these properties will show up in, but it's exciting for any fans of old school Sega games to see these franchises gaining some traction once again.

What are some Sega classics you could see becoming decent TV shows?
