Fortnite to add Horde Bash mode on quest to become every game

Fortnite is a game that Epic has been working on for many years. Originally announced way back in 2011 when the concept of building and defending a base while collecting loot was innovative, when it originally released in 2017, it wasn't quite the reception Epic was hoping for. Still, it seems to have regained some of that momentum with the introduction of its "Battle Royale" mode and now it's looking to add a new type of gameplay: Horde Bash.

While you could argue that Fortnite is being used as a foundation to create game modes that mimic the popular gameplay of other titles, it does appear to be working. More than a million people are playing Fortnite now and that may increase once Horde Bash's defensive horde mode shows up.

Operating a little like horde modes of other games, Horde Bash lets you pre-build a base which is then dropped into Fortnite's world and you have to survive as long as you can, alone or with friends. There are new weapons to unlock and new heroes to play as. You can use the Raider Soldier, who's best with a shotgun and melee weapons; the Ammo Harvest Outlander (thanks

Horde Bash is set to begin on October 5, though it's not clear if this will be a timed event or one that is permanently available.
