The announcement of an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII during the E3 last month left several question unanswered, and now Square Enix finally answered them.

Square Enix director, Motomu Toriyama, confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII primary development platform is still the Playstation 3 console and that the Xbox 360 version will then be ported. "We haven't changed the direction of the development. We're making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later". Both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game are set for simultaneous release, meaning that the Playstation 3 version will be held back until the Xbox 360 porting is complete.

"We aren't going to change any specifications [of FFXIII] because of the multi-platform announcement," he reassured the Playsation 3 fans. "Right now, we're fully concentrating on the PS3 version."

This might not be the only reason behind the deferred Xbox 360 development, but Mr. Toriyama also revealed that his team is yet to receive the tools needed for Xbox 360 development (SDK) from Microsoft. "I'm telling them [FF XIII development team] to not think about the Xbox 360 right now," he said. "We can think about it after the development kits arrive."

Motomu Toriyama confirmed that the game development is progressing well within its predetermined schedule. He then concluded by debunking rumors that a PC version of FFXIII is in development.
