EA may be set to remaster the Command and Conquer series

The last Command and Conquer game to be released was C&C Rivals, which is a fair attempt at modernizing and miniaturizing the classic RTS concept, but it's not really what fans of the series hoped for when it was first announced. Fortunately, it seems that EA might actually be bringing back a number of the series' most classic entries, like Red Alert 2, Generals, and even the original Command and Conquer.

"Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more," Electronic Arts producer Jim Vessella said, via PCGamer. "With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary."

Vesella has previously worked on C&C games like Red Alert 3, Kane's Wrath, and Tiberian Wars, so while not a veteran of the classics, he has had a hand in crafting the modern experience of the various C&C franchises. He said that in the coming weeks, EA will be discussing with fans about what they want to see with the various Command and Conquer games of yesteryear and how they can bring those back to the fore.

The question is, which games would you like to see first? Personally, the one that shaped much of my teen years was Generals and its expansion, Zero Hour. Although I'm not sure the political climate of today would be so happy with the GLA faction's consistent desire for footwear, I'd love to break out the Overlord tanks one more time.
