Duke Nukem 3D has been ported to the Serious Sam 3 engine

If you ever wondered what Duke Nukem 3D might look like if it was ported to a more modern engine, then wonder no more, as you can see it live and in action thanks to the efforts of a couple of modders who have turned the classic FPS into a much more modern one. Oh and unlike Duke Nukem Forever, this game doesn't suck.

In it you'll find all of the same gags, gore, and epic aliens that Duke so famously cut apart in the original game, but with a fresh coat of paint. There are new lighting effects, and reflections, textures, animations, and everything else besides. There's even virtual reality support so you can play the game through from the first person too.

Created by modders Syndroid and NSKuber, the Duke Nukem 3D port works with Serious Sam Fusion — though you'll need Serious Sam 3 VR for the virtual reality version to work as intended — and is a fully realized version of the Duke Nukem 3D first episode. Unfortunately, we can't expect the second and third episodes to be ported over by the same team. Syndroid has said (via PCGamer) that he simply doesn't have the time for the work.

If you want to play the mod yourself and have the right games to get it working, here are the instructions on how to get it going.
