Dual Universe MMO snags original Eve Online designer

Hrafnkell Oskarsson, one of the original designers for still exceedingly popular MMO, Eve Online, has been picked up by the team behind similarly ambitious online project, Dual Universe. It's a good fit too, considering Dual Universe is an expansive open universe sandbox with players at the core of the game's economy and factions.

The idea is to create a single, persistent universe, much like Eve has -- where every player occupies the same universe -- but that takes a very carefully crafted experience. With Oskarsson on board advising the creators, that becomes a lot easier, as per PCGamesN.

Dual Universe will take concepts from a number of other games though, like No Man's Sky, Space Engineers, Kerbal Space Program and more, to craft an experience that lets you go anywhere, do anything and build anything you want too. You'll be able to scavenge, buy or hunt for the resources you need, build space ships, land-vehicles, bases and more, all just about wherever you want. HIde it all on a distant moon so no one can find it, or tack it on to one of the larger, communal planets where everyone can enjoy and fight over it.

It's all in first-person too, so think of it as Star Citizen meets Eve Online, which although ambitious, gives it tonnes of potential.

How do you guys think it's shaping up?
