Double Fine to publish cult indie hit Gang Beasts

Gang Beasts if you're not familiar with it, is the bastard child of Smash Bros and QWOP, featuring fast and frenzied combat with controls that are so difficult to master that most of the time you'll find yourself stuck to your opponent as you wail away on each other like you're re-enacting Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama. However it's become a cult hit, with plans for an Early Access release on Steam later this month and it's now managed to gain a powerhouse of a publisher behind it: Tim Schafer's Double Fine.

Announced on the company's official Twitter yesterday, Double Fine will now be handling the publication of the game, though whether that will mean it will have any impact on its ongoing development remains to be seen.

"Thrilled to announce the newest DF Presents game, Gang Beasts, a muiltiplayer physics-based brawler from @boneloaf!" reads the official Tweet.

Look out for Gang Beasts on Steam on August 29.
