Doom Eternal is fast, frenzied, and has asymmetrical multiplayer

id Software kicked off the E3 conference with a showcase of a number of games it ahs in the works, one of which is Doom Eternal. The fifth game in the Doom series, Doom Eternal will act as a direct sequel to the 2016 release of Doom and will feature a new story, new weapons, and new worlds to conquer — including heaven itself. But the bit we're most excited by is the new asymettrical multiplayer mode known as Battlemode.

Battlemode sees one player act as the classic Doom slayer character, while two others take on the role of classic demons from the series. You can play as a Mancubus, a Hell knight, an Imp, a Spectre, a Revenant, or any other number of demons with different load outs and weapons. Players will all have visible health and armor counts and they'll need to work together to take down the slayer who will be gunning for them with the entire Doom arsenal at their disposal.

It looks to be a fast paced and action-packed way to play the game, with the slayer having to contend with smarter demons to combat, as well as coordinated attacks from any pairs that work together, while the demon players will need to face off against the most deadly force in the Doom universe.

A human controlled Doom Guy.

But if none of that is enough for you, there will also be a mode where you can dive into other gamers' single player games as demons to make things a little tougher for them.

Doom Eternal is set to launch on November 22 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PCs, and Google Stadia.
