Don't panic, DayZ isn't a PlayStation exclusive

Back at Gamescom earlier this year, the announcement that Dean "Rocket" Hall was bringing his open world zombie slayer, frustration simulator DayZ to the PlayStation platform, caused many people to worry that that meant it was a PlayStation exclusive. Never fear though, as he's now come forward to assuage our fears and let us know that DayZ will be coming to multiple platforms.

Speaking at Eurogamer's EGX event at Earl's Court last week, Hall said that Bohemia was committed to bringing DayZ to multiple platforms, but that he would only announce new ones as and when deals are struck.

He also said that the game wouldn't suffer on PC because of its new affiliation with consoles. The UI will need to be adjusted for the PS4 version, as well as several other aspects of the game, but that won't mean that the PC version is restricted.

Considering the ongoing development, a lot of questions were put to Hall about a release date. He described the process as a difficult one to nail down, since there were ups and downs to the different methods:

"There’s a lot of problems with Early Access on PC that definitely are at the forefront of people’s minds," he said. "So when DayZ will release would depend very much on what Sony offers in terms of if it was going to do an Early Access program, what it looks like. Then also the state of DayZ – does it make sense to do it through that?"

Are you guys still enjoying DayZ? Or has it been too long since the original mod gained so much traction that you've moved past it at this point?
