Did you download Fallout 4 for free last night on Xbox One?

Fallout 4 was available for free on the Xbox One last night, along with a bunch of free DLC - though of course that was all a mistake. Did you dive in and pick it up for far less than it was supposed to be selling for?

The bug was only in place for a few minutes, but allowed a few hundred gamers the chance to download Fallout 4 for precisely nothing.

Initially it was thought that this might be a big promotional push by Bethesda to try and get as many Fallout 4 players as possible, so it would have a better chance of selling DLC in the near future, or to encourage interest in the game for some big announcement at this year's E3 show.

It turns out though that it was a completely mistake. Store maintenance seemed to accidentally cause the price change.

"Earlier we had a short maintenance on the server, so it happens that some items on the marketplace have been affected. The issue has been fixed now," said a Microsoft representative (via NeoWin).

Worse yet, those that took advantage won't even get to enjoy the game, as it has been announced that anyone who downloaded the game for nothing will have their copy revoked in short order.

If you keep your console offline though, perhaps you could fly through the game and enjoy it before that happens.
