Hideo Kojima's first big game since being ousted from Konami and the Metal Gear series, is Death Stranding and until now, it was a given that it was going to be exclusive on Sony's PlayStation 4, and perhaps on the next-gen PS5 too. But that may no longer be the case, because Sony isn't calling Death Stranding an exclusive anymore.
As spotted by a Resetera user, via VG247, Sony doesn't have the game on its official list of PS4 exclusives any more, suggesting that the game will also make its way onto another platform. Considering there were rumors early on in the game's development of a PC release, we'd bet that's where it'll end up. Sony isn't likely to hand a probable popular game like this over to Microsoft without a fight, and no way this engine runs on the Switch.
The question now arises of when we'll get an official announcement of this news. Kojima is set to hold an event about Death Stranding on August 19 just ahead of Gamescom, where we'll be given a "new look" at Death Stranding. We have to assume that's when we'll see a PC reveal, but it's pure speculation at this point.
All in all, we still don't know a tonne about Death Stranding. There's lots of traversing of ladders across gorges and between little islands in a shattered landscape. There's also babies that are being protected. And black goo. It's all very mysterious.
Death Stranding is set to release on PS4 and maybe PC, on November 8.
