Day of the Tentacle HD coming to PC

If you're a fan of old school point and click games, then chances are some of your most well remembered are the original LucasArts classics, like the Indiana Jones series, Monkey Island's games and of course, Maniac Mansion.

That latter game's sequel however, Day of the Tentacle, is one of the best examples of the era, featuring beautifully rendered SCUMM graphics, good writing and innovative puzzles and now it's being brought into the 21st century, with an HD re-release from Double Fine, headed by the game's original co-creator, Tim Schafer.

While it's not clear at this time what changes will be made to the game, it's expected to get a graphical overhaul a little like the Monkey Island Special Edition releases, whereby you can switch back between the original and the re-released aesthetics with the touch of a button.

As with the upcoming Grim Fandango remastering that Double Fine is doing, Day of the Tentacle may get an updated control scheme too.

What really has me wondering though, is whether Double Fine will also re-do the graphics of Maniac Mansion, which was available in its entirety within Day of the Tentacle as an arcade game.
