Creed shows boxing still one of the best VR genres

There has still yet to be a truly killer VR application that makes anyone and everyone want to go out and buy a gaming PC and a virtual reality headset, but some of the better games yet released on any VR platforms have been boxing titles. The relatively confined movement, fast hand-based combat mechanics and relatively low-rendering requirements for two combatants and an audience member or two make it perfect for the current state of VR.

Creed: Rise to Glory, is just the latest iteration of it and it looks like it could be one of the better ones.

Based around the growing combat career and abilities of Adonis Creed, as in the original Creed movie and its upcoming sequel, Creed: Rise to Glory will feature more lifelike opponents than something like Knockout League, but will be a little sillier than Thrill of the Fight. The aesthetics are a little overblown and cartoonish, but then the Rocky franchise was always over the top and exaggerated, so why not?

The game will have a main story career mode, freeplay fights, and training modes to improve your boxing skills. We can't promise what you learn will help you in a real fight, but it should be quite a workout if any other boxing VR games have been an indication of its playstyle.

Creed: Rise to Glory is set to release on September 25 on PlayStation VR, HTC, and Oculus Rift, with some suggestion it will also make its way to VR arcades in the future.
